run with my boy

after seeing all of the kids do the tri on thanksgiving my son decited that he wanted to do it next year.

we got up this morning at 5:30 and we ran mile and a half. not to bad for his first time out.

I Thought I Was Going To Die

I am planing to run a marathon in a month and a half, so I decided to see were I was this morning. started out felt good. After about ten miles I was starting to slow down a little. At mile twelve I was starting to hurt. At thirteen I thought I as going to die. Made myself go a little farther then I couldn’t take it any more, so I quit.

Next week I need to start out a little slower. Then maybe I will get between fifteen and twenty miles.

I Won The Thanksgiving Day Sprint Tri

The day started out when I woke up about 2:30 and I laid there for about an hour finally got up and had some oatmeal. I got board so I decided to go to the race and get my bike set up. It was nice that the race was about four miles from my house. I got there and I was the first one there, I even beat the people that set up the race, so I waited around until a couple of people got there, then I set up my bike then went home because it was raining.
I went back to the race and it was still raining so I tried to stay dry. The kids try went off at 7:00 and we stood around till they were done, then it was our turn.
It was a reverse order tri so we started with the run. We all started off at a fast pace and I would say that after about the first 1/4 mile people started to slow down and I started to pass lots of people. ended the run and as I was about to cross the finish line I heard someone say we were at nine minutes, which is way fast for me.
Got on my bike, took off and got up to speed and started to pass lots of people, I love passing people it helps me stay motivated, on the third lap the girls were out on the course and that made it a little harder to ride I even took out a couple of cones. Finished the ride in about 31 minutes.
Got through the transition really fast and headed to the pool, I had 400 meters to swim. As soon as I jumped in I passed someone and it seemed that every 50 meters I was passing someone. On my last turn, I picked it up a little bit and passed a couple of people and ran through the finish line and my family was there.
After the race we stood around until the results came out and I did it I got first place in the Clydesdale division by a minute the sheet didn’t have all of my times on it but it had my final time of 50:45. If I wasn’t in the Clydesdale division I would have come in third place in my age group. The final results come out in a couple of days and I will post all of my times then.

I’v been slacking

The last month or so I have been spending a lot of time running and not so much time biking and swimming. my run has gotten a lot faster but my swim and bike are way down. One week till my first sprint tri, should be lots of fun.

15 foot fall

had an awesome day of climbing. on sighted an 5.11a. got on an 5.11c almost had it but my finger tips just slipped off. got on an5.12a had trouble with the start but did all the moves. the an 5.11b this is were I took my fall, the start was over hanging about ten feet in twenty feet, so it was a little over hanging, I did that part clean and I pulled over a bulge to a shallow three finger pocket to a worse two finger pocket got my feet up and the what I thought was going to be a good ledge was an horrible sloper , I got both of my hands on it and was trying to get my feet up and I just couldn’t hold on and I fell. the fall was about 15 feet and since the start was over hanging I fell into the air and didn’t come close to hitting the wall. after that I tried it again and the same thing happened again. I think the reason that I couldn’t do it is th 5.12a that I did just before it and my arms and finger were spent. I go next time and stick it. we ended the day with a 5.10b that was a hole lot of fun. can’t wait to go back.

still getting better

had a good run today. my fastest time yet. I thinking that maybe I should run the P.F. Chang  full marathon instead of the half.  I don’t know if I can run for four hours. I have two months till the race, so after my tri I’ll go for a long run and see how it goes.
